Home - Out of range

Hi everyone,
I'm sending you a quick e-mail, letting you know that we are all fine and that the new house is quite lovely for us. The phone and internet will be installed tomorrow and we will be able to get in touch with you again. We managed to get a table and chairs, 3 tables (one bedside, one telephone and one coffee), a recliner and footstool, a queen size bed and a twin (single) bed, and 3 chests of drawers for $850. so we're just about set.

I'm the only one who can access the internet today, so I thought I'd pass on the love of the other two, and they wrote a little note each on the laptop yesterday, which I'll copy and paste now:

Hello everyone,

Hi everyone, Mel here,
Well that's us moved into our new place. After being stressed out for a week worrying how we were going to manage to get everything, and making myself ill, I feel a lot more settled now, and a lot happier. and I have to say it's so cool, the wee house is really great. (will send pictures soon)
We are going a bit loopy with no t.v. But I'm sure we will survive. You will not know how much you rely on tv for entertainment lol.
I have to add my washing machine and dryer are huge and I'm loving them. Did all my washing then thought, `i wish i had more'. Well i better let David add his bit will talk to everyone on Tuesday if possible, love everyone miss you all loads, Melinda.

We'll be in touch soon!

Hey x,
Just writing to say I forwarded this to my mum and dad.
Well I'm happy that you are all settling in well. How is work and school?
We had some snow earlier in the week, it was deep for Scotland, 5-6 cm. Lol. Just a small dusting for you guys eh? The weather is getting worse and worse here with winds coming over from Canada bringing storms all over Britain. Gale force winds, hailstones and torrential rain heading our way.
Oh well, hope it clears up. Hope your weather's not too bad.
Well, talk to you later.

Ellis xx

Hi Farrells (n Wylie juniors),
How's it goan?? Hope yer new hoose is fiiiine(as they say up here!) .... n hope yer new furniture is fine too :D Sounds like you've just about landed on yer feet then? Sitting on the couch at the moment in my borrowed hoose - typing the email in my new pc - which i *still* can't get tv on :( but am beginning to think its the stinky arial here (not enough power) - have already had two refunds of over 70 quid - for each tv card i've bought - so not *too* bothered - tho had to eventually buy 25 quid telly from next toor - quite cute tho :D Will now somehow have to put it somewhere when I bring my tv up here!
Am hoping to rent out the Glasgow flat - n william has told me i need to get all my junk out of it - JUNK?!? what junk??? ......... ahh right - yup suppose that *is* junk :( ... he's also advised me to sell or move the furniture that I want to keep ..... so i may need to rent a van (a lorry more like!) tho after my last attempt to drive a lorry i may need to get someone else to drive it :O
if i can get the flat rented i'd be better changing the mortgage (and will also need to tell the tax man and get a certificate for multiple occupancy - rather quickly so i don't get done!), and *that* should free me up for getting another mortgge (but won't have deposit - so that may be a problem) ..... and maybe buying something up here ..... maybe. I'm really reluctant to sell the glasgow flat - just coz i like it (and may want to go back down at some point) *plus* i'm not sure if i've transferred or not - wonder if you get money to transfer - will need to ask - doubt it - doubt it would be enough for a deposit even if you *do* get it. You used to get a relocation allowance - but i think that is for new starts only:(
Anyhoo - just after i got back here from waving you lot off - i came down with a cold :( pretty nasty one too and have been off work almost ever since - well ok I went back too early last wednesday then on friday came down with nasty ear infection! am still slightly deaf in left ear - but am blasting with anti-biotics (tho had a bit of a drinky over this weekend :( ..... well Scotland beat Eangland at the rugby (and Wales beat Ireland!!!) fabby :D had the offor of a ticket for the game but didn't take it up - was too yukky :(
Ye bored yet?? New house address please ..... may eventually get around to actually *writing* a letter (ya neva know!)
ok i've decided you are probably a bit bored - so i'll start the inquisition :P
Chris first .. how is the new school? Is it different to here in Scotland?? How is your cool accent going down? (have you wood any cute girls yet??) .... what are the lessons and the teachers like? What about the other kids in your class? And most important of all Have you learned any cool new words?
Now Mel (don't groan like that!) So, how is the house? have you taken pics yet? What do you think of the twon? have you made new friends? (is that lady still bossing you all around?:P) Are you looking after yourself and your bump? Have you and David managed to keep off the fags? (still haven't stopped :( .... will at some point maybe!) Is it as exciting as i imagined it or are you still getting over the shock? Is it *really* cold?? (my weather widget says Montreal is -5!!) i'm pretty sure we are in poitive weather :D but there have been pretty nasty storms here at the coast - Stonehaven is flooded at the outdoor pool! all came in from the sea ....... south england and wales got it much worse - and there have been trees down, houses drowned in sea water and flodding!
Well last but not least David - ikkle bruv ...... how's you? how is your work? you said it wasn't quite what you expected in one email - is it very different? Is it ok different? i'm getting back into technical work (probably) and am looking forward to it - but it will mean that i'll miss my conversations with the rig men :( :) don't know whether to be happy or sad .... think its good tho :D how are you finding getting around? tempted to learn to drive? (that one could go to Mel too!) will you have time to explore? or is most of your time spent working? will our visits be the exploration? Montreal GP is in June - i think not may - but i'll need to check dates cos I'm doing the moonwalk in the middle of june! but i will still try to visit at some point .... when does the weather get warmer? :P
Right - i'd best be off
Hope when you get your access sorted you'll be able to answer at least some of my questions ...... take care of each other
Lovesya
M

Hi Mazz, Mel here, thanks for the email its good to hear from you. Our new wee house is lovely, although it does need some colour injected into it(eggshell on every wall). We are still off the fags, it doesn't even bother us anymore, well me anyway not sure about David. I haven't taken any pics of the house yet but now we have internet of our own I will take pics and send them along. The weather here has been a bit of a shock to the system, snow, freezing rain, sun, rain all happens although it's 10 below. I do have to say it's getting warmer as time goes on today it's to be only -1(it's almost summer lol). well i must go finish my washing and sort my dishwasher. speak to you soon and hopefully get the pics done and sent.
